Watch overclockers push Intel’s crazy 10-core Broadwell-E chip to 5.7GHz - stewartcionachis82

Intel's new 10-core Broadwell-E gaming chip is merely a some hours old, but already overclockers undergo pushed a 3GHz translation of the scrap to 5.7GHz and they say they're merely just getting started.

Overclocking is the process by which package commands and extreme cooling system are wont to push processors to run faster than they are typically planned to run—the chip equivalent of putting your foot on the throttle and flooring it while keeping your car under control.

At an overclocking effect at the Computex trade show in Taipei on Tuesday, large tanks of liquid N stood on the ready to service overclockers restrain the processors cool.

Roman Hartung, a ware engineer from Berlin's CaseKing, was running some of this into a container vessel on top of a Broadwell-E chip. The chip was running at around -110 degrees Celsius, which is the coldest the check will run, he said. Some colder and it shuts down.

The demonstration was using the Core i7 6950X variant of the Broadwell-E, one of a number of new chips in the family that was announced by Intel connected Tuesday at the same upshot.

He had the chip gushing at about 5.2GHz but aforesaid he had previously pushed it to 5.7GHz.

Hartung said the chip showed well-knit gaming performance, beating out Intel's previous Haswell-E gaming chip that could really be pushed quicker.

"Even up if we can single outpouring these chips at 5.3GHz, it still beats Haswell-E running at 5.8GHz," he said. "Regular with 500MHz less, the execution is better. This means the efficiency training [Intel] did is quite good."

Another overclocker who goes by the name "LeeghoofD" said he hopes the new Broadwell-E chips will help them pulsate complete the late overclocking records, more of which were achieved on 8-Congress of Racial Equality processors.

"We should break all the records because we have two more cores," he said.

Overclockers haven't had their custody on the new chips for long, and there's a scholarship curve at the beginning with every new mainframe, said LeeghoofD.

On previous Haswell-E chips, they establish that the chip would drop performance when the temperate born on a lower floor a definite point, leading them to heat the potato chip up a emotional and get the speed back.

The Broadwell-E chips seem to run best at around -110 degrees Celsius.

Intel is sponsoring an event where invited overclockers will catch a chance to put the new Saratoga chip through its paces over the row of the Computex trade show, culminating in a championship final on Saturday.

"You need to find what's going on with each CPU generation," said LeeghoofD. "It takes just about time, so I think today bequeath be more an exploration for people."

But formerly that exploration is cooked and the engineers feature a punter musical theme of the way the chip handles, even higher speeds could be along the horizon.
